The Most Refreshing Summer Drinks

After working outside all day, it’s nice to cool off with a refreshing beverage. Whether you’re mowing lawns, lifeguarding, or installing a roof, there are plenty of different cold drinks to help fight the heat. But which should you choose? Just picture it: it’s a hot day in July and you’ve just finished a metal roof installation on a customer’s house, the steel is scalding. You climb down and wipe the sweat off your brow, then chug an ice-cold glass of…

Lemonade

Was there ever any doubt? Perhaps the most iconic summer drink, this classic beverage is a no-brainer during the hotter months. Sweet, tart, and often garnished with a lemon wedge, you’d be hard-pressed to find an old summer movie without a lemonade stand making an appearance. There’s really only one question you should ask yourself when choosing this drink: pulp or no pulp?

Iced Tea

Ahh, iced tea. Nothing quite hits the spot like slowly draining a pitcher after grueling hours in the sun. There are also varying flavors, such as peach, raspberry, or green tea. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, try mixing it with lemonade for an ultimate summer drink combination! Maybe you’re from the south and are more accustomed to “sweet tea,” which is an entirely different taste but equally as delicious.

Soda

Carbonated. Flavorful. Sugary. All traits of one of the most popular drinks in the United States. This bubbly beverage comes in a nearly unlimited variety of flavors, brands, and forms, like cans, bottles, or glass. Want a classic cola? Try a Coca-Cola or Pepsi. Feeling something a little brighter? Mountain Dew or a Fanta might be better for you. Still not what you want? There’s also root beer, Crush, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, cream soda! The options are endless! You might want to watch how many you drink–diabetes and whatnot–but slurping a can down every now and again can turn a hot day into a heavenly one.

Gatorade

Bursting with flavor and electrolytes, this smooth liquid is great for staying hydrated and replenishing your energy. It is ideal after long periods of physical activity and comes in a range of flavors, such as fruit punch, lemon-lime, orange, glacier-freeze, riptide-rush, and many more. A great drink choice when playing baseball, going for a run, or just relaxing at the pool!

Water

The original option for staying hydrated, water is highly underrated. Some people might find it boring and plain, but there’s just something about drinking a cold glass of water on a hot day that rejuvenates you as nothing else can. It feels pure, clean, and healthy, which can help balance you out after having drinks with excess sugar. It may be simple, but it’s hard to beat high-quality H20.

End Thoughts

These are among the best drinks to sample during the unbearably hot months of the year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t drink them in the winter too! If you’ve been content with a single drink, try expanding your taste pallet by sampling each of them. Once you’ve done that, try different brands to find your favorite. Once you’ve found your signature drink, summer will never be the same.
