The Movie: IT

Saw it. It didn't seem much of an improvement vs. the original to be honest. It just made me want to re-watch the original or see the split where they came back years later as adults. It was OK if you haven't seen the original I suppose. Kid killing was disturbing.

Denis Villeneuve as director....this has a lot of potential then. He did a great job with Arrival - one of the best sci-fi movies to come out in the last while.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on May 7th, 2017 @ 1:03AM

I couldn't for the life of me remember what happened in the first movie. I guess I should have seen it again before seeing 2.

I saw the movie in 3D and it's the first 3D movie I've seen in Years. Who knows how many years, 3-4? I really hate 3D. It makes the movie hard to watch and looks kinda like shit to me. It adds nothing to the movie in my opinion. There was an opening driving seen that did look cool. But otherwise, I'll always take the non 3d version. It makes it so much easier to watch in my opinion.

I liked the movie. I thought it was great and if you liked #1, you'll probably like 2. The music was great. The special effects were great. Otherwise, not much to say. I coulda used more hot chicks in the movie.

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but where I live I've noticed a very disturbing trend by all the various movie theater chains regarding 3D. And that's the fact that while they do offer non-3D (2D) showings, they are as far as I can tell *only* offered before 6pm. So unless you go on a weekend and want to effectively see a matinee show, you screwed.

It's just another way the theater can jack up their prices as 3D movies are always several bucks more expensive. Even when the vast majority of 3D is garbage and is only used for a handful of scenes in the entire movie.

I saw it on Friday at Downtown Disney. Went to a 7:15 showing. I bought the tickets 20 minutes in advance and the theater was only 200 of the 500 or so seats had been sold. It surprised me, but I guess if you are going to Disneyland, you are there for the park and not so much the theater..

It was in an Atmos theater, and it was worth it. I would easily pay for a better sound system than 3D. I actually avoid 3D and only watch it if I can't find it in 2D. That is something I wish would just die.

Movie was great, one of my 15 y/o's favorite song is Mr. Blue Sky, so that was a great moment for her. My kids listen to older music, so they enjoyed the film more with the non-modern music that was used (like in the first).

My friend said he felt the "funny moments" were a bit forced, though I don't agree. I am excited to see the MCU films for the rest of the year and next.

Saw that movie. I thought it was super awesome. I loved the special effects/design, space stuff. They did repeat the space walk nonsense that's in the other 2+ movies. Otherwise I fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence all over again.

I also watched THE ARRIVAL which had like 92% approval but was so boring.

I really hate the King Kong story and I skip it every time it comes around. There's so many remakes. All you need is the ORIGINAL that started it all.

That latest one (Skull Island?) was actually pretty decent. Not a "must see" movie but definitely enjoyable.

Captain America: Civil War
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on June 1st, 2016 @ 12:25PM

I thought it was pretty boring to be honest. It was feeling kinda OLD. There were so many slow parts. It was OK, but I don't see why people are so hyped about it. Avengers 1-2 was better.

The action scenes were ok. And I really like Captain America. You know what, they just call him Captain, and not much Captain America for their bs international audience.

The fight vs the 2 groups felt so forced. It was lame that there's now a 3rd fucking spiderman. Geez.

I noticed that that Scarlet Johansan's lower teeth row is really screwed up. That's the kinda things you notice when you're bored. haha.

I thought it had great action and humor. My only gripe, which is a common problem with most super hero movies, is how incredibly convenient the plot worked out. There were so many points of failure in his grand designs to undermine the Avengers, but it all worked out flawlessly.

Also Black Widow is able to attack and subdue multiple armed goons with her neat flip attacks, while none of them even think to fire their weapons.

There have been so many movies in the series that they need to have an hour and half of Exposé ins all these films.

I also found it really slow and talky.

I`m not much of a Snyder fan either and never expect much from him. I think his direction was indeed part of the problem with BvS. The other big problem was lex luthor. I don`t know if it was Jessie Eisenburg or the fact that he was so young as lex or how the character was written or what, but the character just didn`t work.

I`m not sure what didn`t make sense in the movie. Seemed pretty straight forward to me. Definitely crammed too much into it though and by the time the big `moment` arrived it kind of felt `hmmm, already.` Although I`ve heard lots of people felt it dragged but I think those people just wanted to see the big fight and didn`t really care about anything else or even give it a chance. Fuck those people. But it`s still not very good.

Anyone that`s a fan of Superman or Batman or the DCverse at least enough to have gone to see Man of Steel in theaters should at least check it out and give it a fair shake.
