Bought a 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L

4/26 - Drove it back from San Diego. Some people in this thread laughed but this van owns on the freeway. It does 80-90 easy. I blast past everyone. I worked quite a few cars. Only prob is I can't see people sneaking up on the right side.
Also discovered there's a lever on the second seats in the middle, if you hit it, it SNAPS close and landed on one of my kids by mistake. I've never had a Honda that had a seat like that before. It violently snapped on them. That's sure dangerous.
4/11/10 - Drove it and road in it to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I watched all of Spiderman-2 in the back. It was fun. I used the headphones too that come with it. They hurt your ears after a while. It has AWESOME sound. I sat in the very back and you can lay out flat. It's NICE. Now that's living. The screen is kinda small in the back but in the middle seats, it's pretty big.
While she was driving some asshole white guy covered in tats in a ricer totally cut her off on an exit. He didn't care at all. Luckily she was able to brake and fit him in.
Driving, it is awesome on the freeway. It's super fast for me. It cruises at 80 mph. My Subaru is obviously faster but that one is up high and a lot smoother.
4/10/10 - The van has these 3 buttons for programming remotes (called Homelink). Well we spent about an hour to get our garage set up to open with just a button built into the honda. It was really complicated. You had to press 2 buttons to blank the memory on the van. Then I had to take my other remote garage door opener and train the car, then quickly press a button on the garage door box inside the garage (on a ladder), then press a button on the van 4 times. I had to go to 2 web sites to print out the instructions. I had to take off a light cover on the box in the garage on the ceiling to get to the learn button on the garage door box. What a mess but now it's super cool.
There's this awesome compartment in the floor where you can store things. The kids filled it with DVDs.
4/9 - I drove it for about 2 hours. That thing is INSANE. $18k for one worth about $20k and it's $35k only 4 years ago. It even comes with a DVD telling all the features.
-Update, 3 hours to complete the purchase. I had to go to the bank (in the grocery store) then the AAA place. It was sad handing it over to my chick who really lucks out and fills it with all her junk :( :( :( Least it will be more exciting to drive than the last one.
-Loan didn't come through on Wednesday. Hoping to buy it Thursday morning. It's the best, check out
-The Bank loan is through some Bank located inside a grocery store. It's pretty demeaning having them pass you papers under a glass window and having you stand outside the glass bullet proof windows like you're shopping at a pawn shop or something. It feels super awkward. They do have a locked area inside with 2 chairs so I hope they open it and let us actually go inside.
-Trying to buy a Honda Odyssey, 2006, EX-L. Just trying to get the loan finalized. 50,000 miles. The guy brought it by work and it's super awesome. Sadly, my chick is going to end up with it. But at least when I drive it I won't be falling asleep because it's so boring (horrible Dodge Caravan). The last 2 years I've rented a car to go to my dad's each thanksgiving cuz our van or car sucks so bad. This time we can at least take this one.
The payments are reasonable. I'm putting nearly 40% down to start with. It's a super deal on it, like $2k off. It's super lame how the government wants to charge like $1,600 sales tax on a USED Car. WTF. They charged it on the original owner then keep recharging it to each person that buys it.
Pos Van is now sold!
3/26/10 - It was a Dodge Grand Caravan, 1998, with 140k miles on it. Sold it for $1,550 to some Mexican taking it to Mexico (these stories write themselves). They didn't even fix it before driving it. My dad said it can't go far without the water cooling it. If it wasn't blown already, it's going to be blown soon. Idiots. Maybe they know something we don't.
We did a contract and dropped off the info at the AAA/DMV. Hopefully there's no way for us to get screwed in that situation. We confirmed the cash was not fake. We got the cash. They don't have our address. She wrote down their license plate numbers on their two cars too. Now she has to get her taxes done (lazy) and I am making her sell some crap from our garage and then we hope to buy a used Honda Odyssey.
-Earlier Post: Listed van for sale. We got several interested parties. One offered $1,500. We were hoping for at least $1,800 but might have to go back to the $1,500 guy. Pretty good for a non working van we got for $1,500 haha.
We traded the Volvo in on a POS 12 year old van for $1,500 from her sister over a year ago. Well the other day it really bit it. I had to bicycle home then drive out and get her. Now she's driving my car around. I told her if she crashes it, she's going to be in big trouble.
So the place says $1,000 of repairs. It's the Serpantine belt (never heard of that) snapped. They want to replace the radiator and water pump. My dad wonders if there's not more engine damage and if we spent all that, it would still be ruined. What horrible timing on that. I just got a house last year and I have barely enough money for the next few months. I'm hoping to get my tax money back soon but unfortunately my refund was 1/2 of what I expected because I didn't take enough taxes out of my paychecks.
I'd really like to get a Honda Odyssey. I just need to get my chick to quit shopping every day. I guess it's her own fault if she drives a pos around and spends her time shopping instead.
