Been following Geoff's sites since Kali. Still think Warcraft rules more than War2 (and War3!) :) at least the catapults & archers do. WoW didn't impress, either.

Despite LA Times' sensationalization, male gynecologists will never "disappear" because of the free market. If they are more available or slightly less expensive, they will be used. Some percentage of them will also be higher-skilled than the average female gynecologist.

John Williams hasn't made any good music that I've noticed since the early 2000's. He's been past his prime for at least 30 years. It's been kind of depressing to see him keep composing, like seeing someone on life support.

Edit-addition: After reading the article, it looks like John Williams himself feels the same way. Also, funny that John Williams didn't compose Star Wars: Rogue One which was the only Star Wars movie in 20 years with decent music :) It'll be great when he's gone.

IN RESPONSE TO: White House Says Trump Will Meet With 'Members Of The Video Game Industry' Next Week [UPDATE: Video Game Industry Had No Idea]

The main reason I preferred Trump was because Clinton is a known video game hater, with her Hot Coffee anti-video game campaign. Out of all the issues in the world, unregulated video games are #1 to me. Mea culpa for not seeing his one statement that's going around now of him attacking video games in 2015. :(

IN RESPONSE TO: Party over on Amazon Reviews

At least you didn't get banned from buying from Amazon.

I'm afraid I'm straddling that line by all the returns I make because of my comic book collector mindset. I'm hyper picky about collector's editions and hardcovers arriving in mint condition, so my return/exchange rate is about 50%. I've heard you can get banned for expecting perfection.

IN RESPONSE TO: Game: Stardew Valley

I've played many dozens of hours of Stardew Valley, and can confidently say it's a waste of time. It's inspirational because it is an excellent achievement made by one person, it is a pleasant "experience", but it is ultimately not a good game.

Same situation, myself. Just don't say anything. If I don't have meetings, I go entire days at work without talking. If I'm not free to speak, then to hell if I'm going to draw subjective lines in my head about what to refrain from talking about -- rather just make it easy and not talk. You're better off looking like a retarded quiet person than a conservative.

Middle earners with high CA property tax end up paying more taxes. My taxes are going up about $4K next year because I can't deduct my astronomical Bay Area property tax. Total crap.

Any diversion from something as traditional as Santa Claus should be met with extreme critcism. Making him green or a cat or whatever should all be met with extreme criticism. Yet making him black and making Mrs. Claus a male garners no criticism from the media? They're all terrified to even hint at putting up a resistance because they like their jobs.

IN RESPONSE TO: Pay to Play Lamers

I'm not in support of "fluff items" costing money either because those are my goal in the end game. Paying to skip directly to the rainbow unicorn-firing bow without having to bother with mundane stat-based items is far worse than paying for the stat-based items themselves, to me. *MY* end game is social status by having the best looking gear. That should ONLY be acquired by being the best and most committed to the game, not with real money.

I'm on Google Fi and pay about $32/month after taxes. But I had to ween myself off of unlimited data -- only get 1GB at that price. Sucks to not get YouTube in the car or Pandora while jogging, but I'd rather have $40 more at the end of the month.

IN RESPONSE TO: Hollywood/Politicians and the Rapists/Sexual Abusers

Call me old-fashioned, but crotch grabbers, or people wanting sex for favors or making explicit sexual advances are what you call perverts. Pervs didn't receive this extreme a level of social-media amplified ridicule prior to the past few years/decade and I think it's related to increasing political correctness, and SJW prudes claiming victimization.

What you're supposed to do is reject or make a fool of them in real time and move on. Now people post that crap on the Internet for public shaming like a bunch of victimized cowards.

Some of these might involve people actually being injured or raped, and that's horrible, but I read through e.g., Kevin Spacy's 15 accusations and they were either inconclusive or things to which people 30 years ago would have said "THAT'S LIFE!"

You shouldn't be able to spend real money on anything after you go home with the game. This is a resurrection of the video arcade model we all hated and why we all bought a NES.

Blade Runner 2049 was pure bliss, but pacing felt a little rushed. I'm first in line for a 4-hour version and hope they release it all in 3D Blu Ray.

The headline for "EA Asking Fans to Stop" is totally misleading -- the offenders were sharing full versions of the game + assets, rather than just offering multiplayer patches like you're supposed to do when fan-supporting old games.

Also, direct links to Kotaku and Gizmodo? Ugh. I barfed a little in my mouth when I saw some of the comments there.

Ugh, tricked into an actual link to Kotaku. Trying to boycot that site for obvious reasons.

As for palm trees, F-them! They don't shade for crap, look like garbage in iconic movies, look like garbage in real life, and aren't native. Palm trees are the scourge to me, aesthetically and practically. Good riddance. Maybe if they used the native version which I saw growing down in Joshua Tree natively, I'd be more accepting of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washingtonia_filifera

I don't waste my time watching other people play sports, but golf is nice in the background.

If race keeps defining these people, maybe they can split up the teams by something more interesting than cities which don't have anything to do with the players, so we can egoically get behind them. Or kneelers vs standers. "Kneelers" sounds like an actual football team name already.

    IN RESPONSE TO: Marvel's Defenders

I barely made it through both seasons of Daredevil, and I am a huge fan of pre-Disney Marvel comics. I tried, but had no patience for the other Marvel shows on Netflix.

Sad what Marvel has become under Disney. I think the MCU is ruining Marvel's cult following by mainstreaming it, and it's only gotten worse under Disney.
