because, you know, the country did so well when the republicans were in charge. Two wars and the economy collapsed. Stop letting Fox news brainwash you. Posted: September 4th, 2010 @ 7:26PM
I`m confused by your comment on the Obama article. He`s not spending any money. People are spending that money to be with him and for fundraising towards their political party. I could see the anger if he were using taxpayer money but he`s not. Posted: May 26th, 2010 @ 11:56PM
those things hit hard, but I usually still crash. I`ve been using stay alert gum lately (amazon), which is pretty solid although I can`t imagine it`s good for you long run either.
The less of this stuff goes into your body the better. Posted: May 5th, 2010 @ 11:02AM
my screen has a little SC2 beta icon next to beta settings, but I`m assuming that`s there for everyone? It just links to beta settings. Posted: March 10th, 2010 @ 6:12PM
Stewart`s show is on Comedy Central. O`Reilly and Beck are on Fox "News" channel. One makes no pretenses that his show is about making jokes. The other claims that it will enlighten viewers and attempts to manipulate and persuade it`s viewers. And if you think that the average person can seperate the opinion on Fox from the News on Fox, then you clearly overestimate people`s intelligence and underestimate the manipulative ability of the executives at fox. John Stewart is very far from some sort of ideologue; any comparison of him to Glen Beck or rush Limbaugh is pretty absurd and means you haven`t paid much attention to him.
His show and his occasional stand up routines are mostly comedy based. He`s making fun of the absurdity of the entire system - democrats and republicans, Fox and MSNBC (and CNN and CNBC and the rest).
If you listen to him the few times when he actually speaks his mind, like in this interview or when he went on crossfire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFQFB5YpDZE
you`ll see a pretty simple theme: what should be important and real discussions on real topics has been distilled to two sides shouting talking points at each other. The media, especially these talking head opinion retards like O`Reilly and Hannity (and the idiots on MSNBC) are becoming just an extension of the political party. And all this is very nice since then nothing gets done except special interest groups can run the show.
There`s alot more. But Stewart as some sort of idealistic liberal fanatic? Not even close. More just a really reasonable smart guy pointing out how STUPID the entire politics-media system is and how much we`ve let asinine extremists take control of it. Posted: February 7th, 2010 @ 12:42PM
tort reform is one piece, it`s not the entire story. It does need to be passed.
Doctors who oppose health care reform oppose it on one ground: their income will go down. And depending on which population of docs you ask, you`ll get different responses. I`m guessing those in academics are largely for the reform, those in private practice as specialists are against it (especially the high paying specialties). Posted: September 16th, 2009 @ 6:13PM
psudo: I heard that today from our school`s reproductive endocrinologist lecturer and was rather surprised. I`ll have to ask him for more details next time. Posted: July 1st, 2009 @ 6:01PM
charkoth... I`ve missed your predictable bs. You belong in between glen beck and sean hannity.
Grover - Healthcare may not be what you care about but it is the most important issue to deal with. What we have now is not sustainable and unless something is done now, the country will go bankrupt financing its own healthcare. Posted: June 17th, 2009 @ 1:12AM
RRP - by research, do you mean going to pubmed and searching peer-reviewed journals to support your claims. Or by research do you mean going to some random website and believing what some random person posted? I seem to be doing the former, you seem to just love doing the latter.
Learn what the scientific method is, understand how we figure out what causes what, and then make some educated conclusions. Or go listen to Jenny McCarthy rail about vaccines causing autism and believe her.
They are not cautious enough - the whole sport is corrupt and the stupid player`s union has been protecting them too long. It`s about time they get serious and started testing more. MLB has a major image problem to correct.
Rowdy - I find it hard to believe people as crazy as you exist. I`m convinced now that you just make stuff up for your online `persona`. Posted: May 8th, 2009 @ 9:33PM
feel better. I`d say don`t listen to RRP but that goes without saying. Enjoy the video games while you`re off if you can.
Apricoth - careful with all the supplements. Nasal spray version of cold-eeze made people lose their sense of smell. Just highlights the fact that when theres no one regulating these BS supplements, people will get hurt (also look at hydroxycut recall). That said, coldeeze does have at least one decent clinical trial to support it which is a good start. Posted: May 5th, 2009 @ 3:27PM
the news media should be burned at the stake for how they are treating this.
the CDC/WHO/government agencies are taking necessary precautions. You want to limit the spread while it is possible. But the news media needs to stop making people panic. I hate them so much. All the 24 hour networks should just go to hell and stop making people worry/panic. The 24 hr news cycle is the worst thing that`s happened to this country in a very long time. hopefully it won`t reach anywhere near that. however, with something like this, you need a critical mass of people infected. if that happens, we won`t be able to contain it and just about everyone will be exposed. hopefully we can contain it for now or it will just mutate into something less virulent and go away.
you never take an influenza that can kill healthy people lightly because of it`s ability to spread person to person easily. Posted: April 28th, 2009 @ 8:26AM
Got to agree with the other two.. come out to the midwest and you`ll see some real screwy weather. Missouri blows - it goes from 70 to snowing in a day. At least you have an ocean to keep your weather somewhat stable. Posted: April 24th, 2009 @ 7:33AM
Hope she feels better soon. Apricoth is definitely right on the hydration part. Vitamin C hasn`t been shown to help with anything, ever, unless you have scurvy or are at risk of getting deficient. The entire `take vitamin C when you feel sick` movement has no evidence behind it.
Nate - amoxicillin will take care of >90% of ear infections. It`s cheap, well tolerated, and overall a solid med. If it doesn`t work, then you should move to a second medication as was done in your case. Any other appropriate medication - including newer fancier ones - will work about 90% of the time as well for an ear infection. So there`s no reason to not use amoxicillin first.
I hate watching fox and CNN - especially when they have their talking heads with preformed opinions on (although I did like OReilly`s interview with Obama and the old school of John Stewart ripping crossfire apart). Fox is probably more extreme right than CNN is left, but I hardly watch either. Fox definitely has an agenda though in promoting it`s views. Regardless, it`s dangerous when we start blurring the line between objective reporting and people giving their opinions which is exactly what happens on all these "News" networks.
