The Undeniable Wellbeing Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry
A healthy level of self-confidence is just as important as looking after your overall health and fitness, as it can mean you stand a far better chance of succeeding in all areas of your life — from your work to your family and social life. But many people don’t have a good amount of self-esteem, and feel worried, anxious and just not all that sure about themselves when they’re out in the world.
Looking your best can definitely help. And these days, more people than ever are choosing cosmetic procedures to correct, and enhance, what nature has endowed them with. Crooked nose? No problem. Too much fat around your waist? It can be zapped or suctioned out in a jiffy. A growing collection of wriggly lines creeping out around your face as you clock up the years? Your dermatologist will Botox them right away.
Something generally overlooked in the self-improvement and makeover stakes, however, is a person’s teeth. Celebrities have always opted for crowns and veneers to have that dazzling, million-dollar smile. But up until relatively recently, it wasn’t much of a choice for mere mortals, due to the extraordinary cost that could set you back tens of thousands.
Opening the Doors to Cheap Cosmetic Dentistry
Now, with advances in dental technology, crowns and veneers have become affordable for everyone, and they can be fitted in a flash. Cheap cosmetic dentistry is transforming smiles all over the world and drastically improving people’s overall look, self-confidence and wellbeing. So what exactly is it?
Cosmetic dentistry is used to restore teeth to the way they were, if, for instance, some are chipped or broken. It also corrects teeth that have different lengths or have come in at angles and jut out. The dentist will advise if a patient is suitable for cosmetic dentistry and if crowns or veneers are best. Crowns encase the whole tooth while veneers just cover the front of the teeth. Both are usually made from porcelain, a hard-wearing and bright material that doesn’t stain.
The procedure for fitting crowns or veneers involves first filing the teeth, so there’s room to add them — crowns require more filing than veneers because they take up more space. Then a mould is taken of the patient’s teeth so that the crowns or veneers can be made to fit those areas. Where modern and cheap cosmetic dentistry differs from years gone by is that this can all be done in one appointment, using computer technology and an on-site milling machine to make the veneers or crowns. So there’s no waiting around or repeat visits.
Smile with Better Confidence
A recent survey showed that more people are now opting for cosmetic dentistry over procedures like having Botox and dermal fillers because they want that perfect smile to cap their look. It also revealed that — possibly for the first time — more people in the UK were opting for cosmetic dentistry compared to their counterparts in the US, where cosmetically enhanced teeth have long been the norm. It seems that British people were not just thinking about having crowns or veneers but were actively planning to get them, while Americans were still deciding.
The majority of those polled said they wanted to have cheap cosmetic dentistry because they felt it would improve their self-esteem and confidence, while others said they wanted to look as good as they felt. Some wanted to combat ageing and others just wanted to look younger.
Whatever the case, it’s clear that cheap cosmetic dentistry has become wildly popular and is giving people all over that sought-after Hollywood smile — without breaking the bank.
