ug, ebay newb
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on March 2nd, 2017 @ 5:41PM

Update 2: well the loony toon finally coughed up the money and stopped the dispute. haha. Not a smooth transaction for sure.

update: So some guy from Uruguay wins the auction with 0 feedback. From what I can tell he's trying to get the package to Miami then redirect it to his country. The package got the Miami and was accepted. Then he opens up a dispute saying he never got it. :( But he did send the money first. So the money is blocked. That seems to be part of his scam somehow. Dispute receiving it after receiving it. I called up ebay and they said I should be OK since it got there. Fucking scammers. He also keeps asking me over and over for a receipt when they email you one when you win. I gave him a picture of it too.

Original I've only ever sold 1 thing on ebay. So I put my auction at $150 to start and it had 27 watches but then just ends $2 over the starting price. Lame. I lost like $50. I"m not sure what I should have done different. Other auctions sold for more with less things. Maybe I should just started it super high.

The guy who bought has 0 feedback, from URUGAY but has a US shipping address in Miami.

I once sold an item over eBay to a suspicious account similar to this. They were also from South America, and had a shipping address for Miami. I questioned it and they said it was a "redirector" address or something like that. Anything going to that address makes it to the final destination somehow. Maybe they bulk ship once they get enough stuff, I don't know. Anyways, everything worked out fine - he got his item and I kept my money. Hope it goes the same way for you.

Don't sell anything valuable until you've got some feedback under your belt. I suspect people are wary of big purchases until they can trust a seller as reputable. I started my ebay career small buying and selling trinkets to build up a reputation and gain experience before diving into bigger transactions.

Also, for any item you're selling it's worth spending a bit of time researching pricing trends. If supply is short you can undercut the cheapest seller by a small amount to push your item to the top of searches.

I can't afford at GOPRO again at this time but I have a camera. Anyone recommend or point out a decent camera mount that would be good for on your head, chest, etc. I was thinking of making some metal detecting videos or who knows.

Shoppin: AliExpress
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on January 1st, 2017 @ 12:29AM

Update: Got my first item! Sewing kit haha

Updated: dropped about $40 on items. I ended up getting like 30-40 emails because the sellers are all individual for each item. They probably have stolen my credit card by now haha. Now I wait 21-60 days for the items.

People in China make all this stuff then the jerks buy them add $10 per item and their own stupid brand on top. One thing I found on there I bought for like $10-15 at a truckstop only to find it on there for like $1. F that. There's tons of clones on Amazon of items that are just people buying off there and doing what I said above. So I'm going to buy a lot of crap from there and send it over here. BUT it takes 30-60 days for your items. I've sat on that site about 20+ hours lookin. haha.

https://www.aliexpress.com/

Hilarious product

AliExpress / AliBaba are larger than Amazon and Ebay combined, and they act as an escrow service between you and the individual sellers who will never see your credit card information. They're big enough and make enough money that they don't need to steal your CC.

Just be careful to keep track of how long you have to contest items that don't show up (and do so in time) and you'll be fine.

The long delivery time and awful tracking sucks, though. Also, a lot of the products are crap. Some good stuff, though.

Canadian dollar dips below 70 cents US before recovering - Is it that time again?

Yea, its pretty Horrific up here.

The Canadian Dollar has fallen from near to above parity a few years ago to less than $0.70. The price of oil and the fed interest rate hike are primarily to blame.

These are two things that are not likely to improve in the short term. Its all over folks. Please annex us.

i usually buy batteries at the dollar store. there's no way name brand batteries are 7-8x better than the no name/panasonic batteries there.

an interesting read

i don't know how much stock i put in an article where the author spends the first 1/3 explaining how he can't do the proper math so he'll take short cuts here and there and then come to a conclusion

there's also the 'inventory costs' associated with batteries.

if you have a couple kids and have about 20-30 things that require batteries in your house do you really want between 30-150 bucks worth of super expensive batteries chilling in a toy your kid might use this week or next week?

Update: WoW, I posted this an Travis sent me a Farcry 4. Thanks a ton. With 8 games, It might take a bit until I get to it, but I'll for sure play. Thanks a ton. And thanks to Erik for the birthday gift (from March). I used that to get Fallout 4. The people on here are nicer to me than most of my family. haha. What I do is buy the games for the year at Black Friday or Steam Summer sale. Then just play those throughout the year.

  • I tried to buy 2 NIKE pairs but when I got them home. One had a weird feeling like a strong instep. It felt like cleets. The other one seemed to have some problem when I I bent my foot, maked a crinkling sound. They were both cool shoes but I guess didn't wear as cool as they looked.
  • Bought 2 copies of Battlefield hardline ultimate edition. I hope someone even still plays that. $56 each.
  • Got a cool back up battery with 20,000MH (whatever). $27, what a deal
  • My stupid ass phone connector has started to have problems now. It has to be just right to even connect.
  • We kept looking at the XBOX Tomb Raider deal for $350 with extra controller and tomb raider. But that's so much money. Of course then my baby mama comes back and she spent $400. We were so mad at her. So she gets her cap and we all get nothing. But back to the XBOX, I just didn't see why we needed it. We can get any game on the computer. There were a few black friday game deals like FarCry 4 for $15 ONLY on xbox. Or witcher for only $25. But... On top of that, we got a ton of games on PC to play. I got Mad Max, Fallout 4, Overwatch, Heroes, WOW, and Battlefield Hardline. I still want the Witcher, GTA V, Tomb Raider, and Farcry 4( BOUGHT). I guess I'll wait for deals.

    Fucking Monopoly Game
    Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on June 5th, 2014 @ 5:31PM

I'm talking about the game the stores or McDonalds runs. Each year Albertson's runs one.

Spent 4 hours going through the pieces, and entering codes off things you open only to win $0! 4 hours of wasted work.

When sprite had those 1/6 wins a bottle of sprite under the cap, I loved it. You could just hand them the cap at the gas station counter and walk off with another sprite. I once bought a 6 pack of 20 oz (do they still sell them in 6 packs?), and had 2 winners in it. Went to redeem both and one of those had a winner in it.

Anyway, after they moved to codes you had to redeem on the website, I stopped bothering. I think these companies realized they were missing out on tons of datamining opportunities. You are paying for the chance to win with your information. No game is worth the hassle of creating accounts or privacy logging, even with a 1/6 chance to win something you would actually want.

We have a monopoly game that is run annually by a local Grocery chain, Tops Markets. Every year I try in vain to win anything and yet win nothing.

The first year they ran it, we got about $15 worth of free items, so that was nice. But ever since then its been junk. You don`t even get decent coupons anymore. This past year they added the online code redemption. Oh wow, I won more tickets? I have to print a voucher and tape the code to the printout. Such a waste.

    Original Post
What a nightmare. I stopped by Walmart as our first stop on the way home and I got stuck there 3 1/2 hours. I was ready to jump. I found all the Disney Infinity stuff. The people weren't fighting at all like previous years. By the time we got there it was 11 p.m. and the sales started at 5 p.m.

It's so bs of them to start the shoppping at 5 p.m..They took all the fun and challenge out of it. There's no more lines though. And the online sales were cool because everything you wanted was online before Black Friday.

It was fun going home after thanksgiving, looking at the ads, then going out in the morning and trying to grab them all. So it's 0 fun now.

I got GTA, BF4 Premium. A few DVDs for $4 each and a bunch of Disney Infinity stuff for the kids for Xmas and BDays in Jan.
