I got my student ID. I'm Chevy Chase in community, haha. It's hard to believe it's been almost 20 years since this site started. Next year is 20 and some of you have been with the site all that time.

Public Schools are lame
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on September 4th, 2009 @ 1:44AM
Public schools (or our particular one) are the worst. Irvine schools are supposed to be pretty good. We're thinking of maybe switching to another one because hate this one so much.
Our kids teacher has said kids can say "OH God." Which to our family, Christian, is offensive. I think in response kids should be able to say things offensive to other religions or general words that would piss the teacher off.
They're also making us write lame letters to our kid that is read in front of class. I swear his school makes them do the most B.S. of things. They also give them TONS of homework from Kindergarten up.
Then school continues to get worse where they start teaching kids it's ok to be gay or teaching pro-Evolution. I know you godless atheists enjoy that, but our kids shouldn't be forced to learn your point of view just as they are not forced to learn Christianity.
There's a lot of learning in school but generally the learning is about making friends and getting along with other people and not about the actual crap that they're teaching. Unless you're going to be a scientist or someone that uses math heavily, or someone where that knowledge is actually useful, then most of it is crap.
