-It's nice to know at least 54% of you are ok :) I will admit that some people might be born with something that gives them more attraction to the same sex but those people don't have to act on it. They totally have a choice. I would say like 80% of gays just made that choice with nothing biologically about it. The fact is that women and men are so different it's easier to identify with the same sex. Look at those gay parades. Most of the people are ugly ass people who you know only have a shot at getting a person of the same sex rather than find one of the opposite. Gay people have a choice and they are doing something they know is wrong. They do whatever it takes to themselves and others to try to explain away what they know to be wrong just like man does on everything we do wrong. People are born with deformities (sp) all the time. God doesn't make people retarded. That's a result of sin in the world and Satan. People have to overcome those problems. There are people that have jacked up attraction to little kids rather than adults and that's certainly no more wrong than gay people. They try to explain that away with oh well it's consenting adults so it's ok! People develop jacked up things in their mind and they should get help for it rather than embracing it and trying to say it's ok. Read More

April 1st
Posted by: Aridin on April 1st, 2003 @ 9:29PM

Who says april fools ends at noon. Twenty-Four! Here's your april fools more angles out the gazoo. My big april fools joke today was not going to work. April 1, 15 whole days of new holidays. Here's to my first one.

I'll change it back in a few minutes on kalicompton.

Heh, don't know if the change caused the slowdown. Anyway jokes over.

Not sure what the slowdow was, don't think it was the code, there was no real spike in traffice. They are talking about bloggers and war on CNN. With the InstaPundit guy.

The Daily Show is hilarious, it syncs new clips to my ppc every other day which is cool and a good war news :)

Site, urls placed in comments will auto link now.

The Level Icons?
Posted by: Aridin on March 30th, 2003 @ 11:32PM

Added a little bookmark item. I think it's pretty obvious what it does. Look for the Bookmark link near the top of any post (inside) and click it. From there you will see your bookmark page. Local bookmarks show the updated date, comment count and last comment date. You can add non EN links as bookmarks as well using a full url, Click Edit Bookmarks, or see it in the CP.

An quick email is now sent to a commenter when a comment makes it from the que to the post. Watch it doesn't go to your junk mail.

Might be a bit much here but I built in the option. They are just ten images in a specific directory. There is already some support for avatars as some have guessed. Doubt that will get turned on here. Anyway the ten icons are tribal mask Windows icons I had kicking around from something. I am watching this thread as I build a little something to mark items.

Thanks to the timely 9:35 for making the CP buttons look better. Still working on the sources and thanks options.

Level Coloring and Tweaks
Posted by: Aridin on March 30th, 2003 @ 4:38AM

I upgraded the userlevel paths and what each level can accomplish. Added the users level under their username and linked it to this level description page. Caching each users level a little better now as well as faster level checking. I didn't know what to name or color the levels as, so that might get changed a little on suggestions. As this is new, users are marked as 0-undead (heh) until they next visit.

Added a [Last to First] and [First to Last] (default) sorting option for the comments as well as the option to include a single email reply when adding comment.

The email item page now does not have user email in the source, only their id, keeping emails safer from spambots. I think that was the only place emails were used. Will protect messenger accounts in a smiliar way soon.

Went glow bowling, or rock and bowl. Not sure what they call it. The music was loud and terrbile. Like someone's bad time life decades collection. The actual bowling was fun, but I'd rather hangout at a place the Dude would bowl. It was a (hot/tobemarried) friends birthday though so it was her thing, and there was cake. I snagged two peices.

I think that might be the major updates for a bit, going to be a busy week in the real world, but I can pick at the small stuff here and there. I have a Sources update to do for news posting and want to get an upgrade in on fudged.org, s17. Think I might have figured out a hosting/licesing method to try there. But I would like to hear some of your thoughs, as developers, users or site admins.

Something for the Weekend
Posted by: Aridin on March 29th, 2003 @ 12:28AM

Checking out the nightlife tonight. Nothing much going on, drinks and smokes at a new "Scotish" pub on Rideau. I was there with the Statscan crowd, knowing much of know one, at the start anyway. There are definatly more young ladies in that crowd. Pays not to be in the tiny and overlooked telecom research clic. But I get to do some interesting things. The engine you are using is a middle generation version of the community knowledgebase helpdesk framework I am about to launch in a big way in there. Well I still have to sell it to the suits. But I look good in a suit and I fear no crowd. You know people fear pubilc speaking more then death? Why?

But then I notice that some people entered phone numbers here, that's brave. If you entered a phone number it's being picked up as a icq number so edit it out if you would.

I'd like to offer my thanks now, it took me nearly five years to convince our buddy off his tried and true. Granted it's taken until now to be able to offer something interesting enough. What you guys helped prove this week is that the system can easily support a tight community, possibly a lot more. And perform well under some decent usage. I seceretly was worried about that, heh. Keep an eye on s17, I want to do some good stuff there if people are interested in the these like tools with no hassle. I've been impressed with the host here during this week and don't feel ready for licsensing without maintenance agreements. It's complicted business and a lot of work, I'll tell you what.

What our buddy and like began in the nineties, is now the biggest thing on the internet. "Nothing", blogs (I freaking *hate* that word, make up a better one) might be the challenge response email system people talk about. Google buy Blogger. Google dosen't seeem to be one to over look opportunity. When they launched the News thing, I was blow away. I still had sites to read, but the general idea in every category was there in one place. Now they seem ready to tune all the noise of nothing into related links. Imagine any drudge might rise to be heard. It's an amazing possibility that the shit you happen to post online might rise to some level of being news. The more you can filter peoples noise out, the more information supposedly. :)

Anyway, I reveresed the comments for the weekend, newest last. People asked for that or the option. The option is coming, lots of sorting, have to fix up the levels for the man too.

Is the GPL completely misundersood?, OS News.
