China OWNS us
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on February 13th, 2018 @ 7:26PM

Check out these photos, esp if you've been following the progress. They created these out of NOWHERE. They're so far above us. REVEALED: Pics show China nearly done with South Sea militarization...

Imagine how much money was invested in building all that infrastructure. Then think about the fact that the US military budget is quadruple that amount.

US Navy update from LIGHTHAMMER

US Navy update from LIGHTHAMMER

As of today, 205 ships in the water. Those ships are broken into 10 Battle Groups with a battle-group generally consisting of 1 Super Carrier, 2 Capital Ships, several destroyers (8-10), several subs (4-12) and a few Captial Ships, Destroyers and Subs placed under the command of the Carrier Group. It also notably consists of base defensive ships and non-battle-group commissioned subs. Here's the break down of the ships as they were deployed: - 2 Historical Ships (USS Constitution and USS Pueblo) - 50 Ships still in service from the 1980s. - 93 Ships still in service from the 1990s. - 40 ships still in service from the 2000s. - 22 Ships still in service from the 2010s. Almost *ALL* of the ships built in the 1980s are due to be decommissioned. Virtually all ships from that era have had standing orders to be decommissioned for a few years now. The ships from the 90s have anywhere between 5 years to 20 years depending on the ships class and purpose. That means, right there, 143 ships and practically aging out of combat. Thats 70% of the fleet. During Obama's time in office, only 24 ships went into service. 7 of those were destroyers based on the 1980s Arleigh Burke Class. 10 of the ships that went into service were small Shore Line frigates only intended as missile defense or scouting near the shore line. 6 Amphibious Subs intended for scouting were brought into service and just 1 high tech Destroyer (the USS Zumwalt) was brought into service. It's noteworthy that under Clinton, our Military Budget (the ENTIRE military budget) was just 8% GDI. Under Obama, it has ballooned into 32% GDI of our budget; and considering taxes have generally gone up under Obama, that GDI has stronger standing then under Clinton. What do we have to show for it? A fleet that is nearly aged out. In short, Obama squandered the military budget big time. If anyone wondered why some of Trump's first acts was to ride Boeing and Lockheed Martin in the Military Industrial Complex; this is why. These organizations had their run under Obama and Trump wanted to make it clear its not going to be that way under him. I would not be surprised if the F-35 was scaled back dramatically or canceled considering how bad of a plane it's shaping up to be and how much they cost. Here's a great video that briefly covers it:

Air Force 1/2

Yesterday AF1/2, the backup plane that the president wasn't on, was over at March AFB. My daughter's mother's dad got pictures of it.

That's pretty cool to get to see that. But then it's kinda dumb they got that thing just sitting around for him wasting time/energy.

I got to stay at an Airforce Base
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on January 1st, 2015 @ 10:51PM

My chicks dad was in the airforce so I got to go stay in an Airforce Inn at March AFB. It even had lots of portals, that were all green. This morning I went and killed them all. I went around in the car and added tons of new portals (in 6 months) with all these historical signs.

We got to stay in a 2 bedroom house, which were old office quarters. It was really nice. We had 2 houses. They were only about $50 a night. It really pays to be in the military, the benefits pay off the rest of your life (if you don't die). And if you want the best benefits, get the Medal of Honor (cake). Check out this.

Anyway, the base was pretty cool. I guess now it's a reserve base now so things were kinda run down in places. It was also interesting how I could just drive around all over no problem, except near the runway of course. There's this other really cool base in Arizona with all these planes on standby, stored for future usage. I also thought it was interesting how people just drove around in regular cars. Nothing special.

Nebu,

I was born on a military base and my dad retired when I was 16. You aren't kidding when you say there are some awesome benefits to being in the military. Besides the ones you mention, which are awesome, another is actually the insurance. USAA is the military auto/home/renter's insurance. My dad always told me that part of my inheritance was my right to continue on USAA (since they allow you to pass it on to your heirs even if they aren't in the military).

He said that if some other insurance salesmen were to call me up and offer me to tell me he had an unbeatable offer in auto insurance, I just had to tell them I had USAA, and usually they would just say 'alright' and wish you a good day, which has largely been true. I pay next to nothing for 2 cars (older cars, liability only) and at the end of the year they actually mail me back a check for whatever they didn't use for the year.

I did 11 years in the AF. The pay was shit, the medical care was good, but aside from those things you can call compensation, the AF helped me grow up, taught me responsibility, and made me who I am today. Throw in the cool job I had (http://theaviationist.com/2013/02/26/boomer-kc135/) and the travel that went with it and you get a great overall experience. Sure there were some bad parts, but I learned from them.

Navy Ships
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on October 20th, 2014 @ 5:19PM

We sunk this carrier off North Carolina

I sat here a long time reading about each ship that are in reserve or being scrapped/sold at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Reserve_Fleet

The National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF) consists of "mothballed" ships, mostly merchant vessels, that can be activated within 20 to 120 days to provide shipping for the United States of America during national emergencies, either military or non-military, such as commercial shipping crises.

At its peak in 1950, the NDRF had 2,277 ships in lay-up. In 2003, it had 274. In July 2007, it held 230 ships, primarily dry cargo ships with some tankers, military auxiliaries and other types.

About half of the 15 wounded are believed to be Americans, a U.S. official told ABC News.
