Blade Runner 2049
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on January 16th, 2018 @ 12:52AM

Well the special effects were nice but otherwise I wasn't terribly excited about it. Just going through the motions, it felt like.

i watched that the other day. good scenery and visuals but it felt like the entire movie was just about closeups of sad faced ryan gosling. very boring. didnt expect to see batista in the movie. speaking of him watch the movie on netflix named "bushwick" its really good. its about new york getting invaded and its like a really good red dawn. lots of neighborhood gun anarchy. and if you like the game the division it almost feels like a live action division game with all the bad guys

Awesome Pirate Movies + Robin Hood (Errol Flynn)
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on January 9th, 2018 @ 10:19AM

They're old but they're amazing.

Captain Blood (1935) - This one will blow your mind. The action/special effects are incredible for PRE-World War 2!

The Sea Hawk (1940)

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)

Robin Hood was always a favorite hero of mine. The idea of stealing from the wealthy pigs and giving it to those in need always had a strong appeal.

Movie: Over the Edge (1979) - Must See
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on December 31st, 2017 @ 10:49PM

IMDB

must see

Based in part on the 1973 news report “Mousepacks: Kids on a Crime Spree,” about a troop of teens who went on a vandalism spree in one of California’s planned communities, Kurt Cobain said that Over the Edge was the primary inspirations for Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ music video. The movie “pretty much defined my whole personality,” Cobain said. “It was really cool. Total anarchy.”

But anarchy is the furthest thing from the point.

Over the Edge, which not only boasts a terrific soundtrack (The Ramones, Van Halen, Cars, Cheap Trick) and the star making debut of a 14 year-old Matt Dillon, is about the most important thing in the world — the fact that nothing and no one can replace mom and dad, the crying need for the two parent home, and the unspeakable damage done to children who are not loved enough to be guided, paid attention to, and disciplined.

Largely ignored upon release due to a glut of “gang” movies, HBO showings in 1981 introduced Over the Edge to an appreciative audience who could never quite shake it

Certainly better than the previous ones. I teared up a lot because of the veiled American (rebel) patriotism. Ironically the people routing for the rebels as viewers would be against America and vote for Americas enemies over them. haha. I also teared up because it's Carrie Fisher's last performance (not sure if they photoshopped any).

Rey has the most perfect teeth ever. Photoshop haha

The Magnificent Seven
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on December 11th, 2017 @ 12:18PM

IMDB - I got it on Amazon Prime for free. It's pretty decent. The combat is pretty good/intense.

It's pretty cliche especially the OMG Gattling gun. Every damn cowboy game features that too (Red Dead, few others). Someone needs to make a page that lists all the shows/movies where they have a wagon reveal to have a gattling gun inside. haha.

Also the whole plot is just BLAZING SADDLES or THREE AMIGOS

"Also the whole plot is just BLAZING SADDLES or THREE AMIGOS"

Seriously? I can`t tell if that`s meant to be a serious comment.

Saw it. It didn't seem much of an improvement vs. the original to be honest. It just made me want to re-watch the original or see the split where they came back years later as adults. It was OK if you haven't seen the original I suppose. Kid killing was disturbing.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on May 7th, 2017 @ 1:03AM

I couldn't for the life of me remember what happened in the first movie. I guess I should have seen it again before seeing 2.

I saw the movie in 3D and it's the first 3D movie I've seen in Years. Who knows how many years, 3-4? I really hate 3D. It makes the movie hard to watch and looks kinda like shit to me. It adds nothing to the movie in my opinion. There was an opening driving seen that did look cool. But otherwise, I'll always take the non 3d version. It makes it so much easier to watch in my opinion.

I liked the movie. I thought it was great and if you liked #1, you'll probably like 2. The music was great. The special effects were great. Otherwise, not much to say. I coulda used more hot chicks in the movie.

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but where I live I've noticed a very disturbing trend by all the various movie theater chains regarding 3D. And that's the fact that while they do offer non-3D (2D) showings, they are as far as I can tell *only* offered before 6pm. So unless you go on a weekend and want to effectively see a matinee show, you screwed.

It's just another way the theater can jack up their prices as 3D movies are always several bucks more expensive. Even when the vast majority of 3D is garbage and is only used for a handful of scenes in the entire movie.

I saw it on Friday at Downtown Disney. Went to a 7:15 showing. I bought the tickets 20 minutes in advance and the theater was only 200 of the 500 or so seats had been sold. It surprised me, but I guess if you are going to Disneyland, you are there for the park and not so much the theater..

It was in an Atmos theater, and it was worth it. I would easily pay for a better sound system than 3D. I actually avoid 3D and only watch it if I can't find it in 2D. That is something I wish would just die.

Movie was great, one of my 15 y/o's favorite song is Mr. Blue Sky, so that was a great moment for her. My kids listen to older music, so they enjoyed the film more with the non-modern music that was used (like in the first).

My friend said he felt the "funny moments" were a bit forced, though I don't agree. I am excited to see the MCU films for the rest of the year and next.

Saw that movie. I thought it was super awesome. I loved the special effects/design, space stuff. They did repeat the space walk nonsense that's in the other 2+ movies. Otherwise I fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence all over again.

I also watched THE ARRIVAL which had like 92% approval but was so boring.

I really hate the King Kong story and I skip it every time it comes around. There's so many remakes. All you need is the ORIGINAL that started it all.

That latest one (Skull Island?) was actually pretty decent. Not a "must see" movie but definitely enjoyable.
