'Star Trek' Series Rescued at Last Moment

That tired series needs to die. Without Kirk or NG it sucks.
'Star Trek' Series Rescued at Last Moment Just when it had seemed that the Star Trek TV franchise was doomed, it was apparently saved Wednesday following a massive fan campaign organized on the Internet as SaveEnterprise.com. The site said that producer Rick Berman would be flying into New York to make the official announcement during UPN's unveiling of its fall schedule. And indeed, when UPN released its fall schedule earlier today (Thursday), Star Trek Enterprise was listed as part of the replacement for the network's low-rated Friday Night Movie. It will share the vacated time period with a replay of the reality series America's Next Top Model.

Of course, ST has nothing compared to B5. Now THAT is a Sci-Fi series with an amazing story line. The only hope now is that Galatica would actually be worth watching (Pilot eps. was pretty good tho).

But as hard as I try I can`t get into the new ones, like voyager and enterprise... The glory days of Star Trek are over, but you always got the re-runs! ^____^

I used to rag on DS9, but seasons 4-7 are actually pretty good when they are doing the dominion arc. Right now I've started netflixing voyager which I remembered having some neat episodes. I must say Nebu put me in my place. I used to rag on B5, but after watching the first season I admit I was wrong. That show is good. Enterprise however, just doesn't grab me like TNG did. Seems like Star Trek is just out of ideas =(
Peon May 20th, 2004 @ 10:39PM Registered: 2004-04-30 Location: Posts: 88 | What enterprise needs to do is just get embroiled in a real war and work on stories based within that. Like that one the klingons supposedly had with the federation. That`s what I thought enterprise would be about, establishing the backstory before the original and TNG. But it`s not. It`s like TNG-lite. I do not CARE if you went and sold pepper to some stupid alien you dinks. START A WAR. DS9 got five times better with a war, and TNG had the story not to really need one. Enterprise doesn`t.

After season 1 they made some changes because the show wasn`t doing too well, such as getting rid of that captain guy from season 1 and getting the new awesome guy that kicks major butt(sorry can`t remember their names).

Enterprise was pretty cool for the first couple of episodes, but for the rest of the first two seasons it just didn`t have the spark needed to be a great season. Then they introduced the Xindi story arc and I must say season 3 has been a great one for me. The main plot is new, interesting and mysterious. They have also created so many sub plots that it really adds to the character development. I think it will get even better in the next season or two as the Federation is founded. The whole "One ship out exploring and afraid of getting their butts kicked" storyline of every episode in the first 2 seasons sucked. It should get better now that they have allies and a better developed crew.

A la, the Romulan Wars. Only problem is that at the end of the Romulan Wars, the Federation is formed and the series would be forced to end.

Infidel May 21st, 2004 @ 1:16PM Registered: 2003-08-14 Location: Burbank, CA Posts: 763 | The problem with Voyager and Enterprise is that they used the "monster a week" approach...like in Smallville. There was no overall storyline to follow, just individual episodes that tried to stand on their own. DS9 and Babylon 5 didn`t do that, though. They had one big story that lasted several seasons...DS9 had the Dominion War, Babylon 5 had the Shadow War and the Earth Civil War...that made it interesting. Each new episode advanced the whole story just a bit more, and enticed people to watch it. I`ve heard that Enterprise is doing the same thing, so I might go back and give Season 3 a try.
Peon May 23rd, 2004 @ 9:19PM Registered: 2004-03-19 Location: Posts: 11 | Season 3 of Enterprise is by far the best season to date of the series and on my short list of shows to watch. I find it substantially better then the Voyager series which i was never impressed with. I liked the end of ds9, tng and i did not care that much for tos. |
