Saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on May 7th, 2017 @ 1:03AM

I couldn't for the life of me remember what happened in the first movie. I guess I should have seen it again before seeing 2.

I saw the movie in 3D and it's the first 3D movie I've seen in Years. Who knows how many years, 3-4? I really hate 3D. It makes the movie hard to watch and looks kinda like shit to me. It adds nothing to the movie in my opinion. There was an opening driving seen that did look cool. But otherwise, I'll always take the non 3d version. It makes it so much easier to watch in my opinion.

I liked the movie. I thought it was great and if you liked #1, you'll probably like 2. The music was great. The special effects were great. Otherwise, not much to say. I coulda used more hot chicks in the movie.

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but where I live I've noticed a very disturbing trend by all the various movie theater chains regarding 3D. And that's the fact that while they do offer non-3D (2D) showings, they are as far as I can tell *only* offered before 6pm. So unless you go on a weekend and want to effectively see a matinee show, you screwed.

It's just another way the theater can jack up their prices as 3D movies are always several bucks more expensive. Even when the vast majority of 3D is garbage and is only used for a handful of scenes in the entire movie.

I saw it on Friday at Downtown Disney. Went to a 7:15 showing. I bought the tickets 20 minutes in advance and the theater was only 200 of the 500 or so seats had been sold. It surprised me, but I guess if you are going to Disneyland, you are there for the park and not so much the theater..

It was in an Atmos theater, and it was worth it. I would easily pay for a better sound system than 3D. I actually avoid 3D and only watch it if I can't find it in 2D. That is something I wish would just die.

Movie was great, one of my 15 y/o's favorite song is Mr. Blue Sky, so that was a great moment for her. My kids listen to older music, so they enjoyed the film more with the non-modern music that was used (like in the first).

My friend said he felt the "funny moments" were a bit forced, though I don't agree. I am excited to see the MCU films for the rest of the year and next.
