With these types of shows, there's always a level of suspension of disbelief one has to entertain to enjoy it. For me though, the show started to go down hill when Thea (sp?) in something like 6 months became a AAA fighter/swordmaster/bowman.
And ever since then everybody and their mother seems to be a martial arts pro. The African American guy? Yeah he went from a tech geek to bad ass kungfu guy in like a handful of weeks with no prior training/experience. I mean c'mon!
And yet I'm still watching it and I can't articulate why :(

I don`t think the show has ever really been good. None of the DC shows are all that great overall, they have crap writing, boring plots and the format is repetitive and stale. Plot scene, action scene, character scene, rinse repeat. Gotham is the only one that`s somewhat interesting because it`s trying some different stuff with young Bruce Wayne.
But I think the black guy had always been a black belt or something in some martial arts, it was mentioned at some point. But in general and especially in the earlier seasons the characters all got their fighting chops way too quick. Most of the characters are just badly written and would fluctuate in their motivations just to service the plot. "Oh, Laurel had a glass of wine at dinner so she`s an alcoholic now."
Honestly, this season is one of the better ones, at least with the overall villain plot working for a change. A revenge arc for a villain usually works well, but I can already feel it`s going a bit too far with his being `ten steps ahead of you` kind of uber-ness.
WTF. Since when does the comments sections have S H I T T Y language filters?

Actually Arrow was pretty good in the beginning. The use of flashbacks effectively giving us a show-within-a-show was done very well. It had the right amount of action, mystery, and grittiness that I found appealing.
That said, I think "The Flash" is by far the best out of all the DC live shows. Sure some corny lines and characters at times but overall a solid cast (it's hard to hate on either Barry or Cisco - great casting there). What really impresses me is even though you have the obligatory filler episodes, even those are enjoyable in their own right (King Shark!!!). It has a nice balance between short-term and long-term story arcs.
