It's 2017 and I see TONS of those guys with short hair but big bushy beards. That style doesn't seem to die. A lot of them would look so much better if they ditched their stupid beards.

Nonsense! Well maybe it`s not nonsense. I get your point but I am biased. I`ve been wanting to grow a beard since I was a kid. I can`t say why but I always did. Now I work from home full time so I don`t have to worry about looking professional for the office. And it`s pretty much fashionable now so the wife and family don`t really care either (my Mom actually likes it.) So I tried to grow one a couple of years back and found out that I have decent genetics for it. I like how I look with it. And I think, for many guys, it does improve his look. I`m not talking about the hipster look either. I`m talking about looking like man, not playing at it with skinny jeans, tight fitting flaneIs, etc. It goes beyond your age and certainly isn`t tied to the hipster lifestyle. In fact I`ve see tons of bearded old guys where I live (which is not even an hour out of NYC and it`s not hicksville) and I like the look. Some look rugged, some distinguished, etc. It`s certainly not for everyone but personally I hope the style never goes away completely. In a world where masculinity is so often demonized, there`s something I like about growing a good thick beard as only a man can do.

Plus in laws hate it which pleases me sometimes.

I still don't think it is as bad as the man bun. In my opinion, that is the modern version of the mullet.
