I HATE ANTS
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on July 13th, 2014 @ 1:51AM

Every year those aholes come back. Today I woke up and they were in the kitchen trash. I have been going around to see how they're getting in and I finally found it. There was a tree branch (thin new one) that was resting on the house and they were all piling across.

It's Spider vs Ants. The spiders are all setting up camp to catch them.

I wish I could afford the pest control again. Those guys sure got rid of everything. They charge so much though. They all want a monthly fee too.

My friend has an annual battle with ants. He`s had decent luck with a spray barrier around his home. He applies it himself.

They don`t bother me personally, but there are several guides with homebrewed solutions. Here`s one that I found:

I fight ants whenever possible by pouring baking soda and vinegar on their colonies. It works quite wells to eradicate them for a while.

Have you tried diatomaceous earth? I use it for pest control on some of my properties (because tenants are filthy and diatomaceous earth is cheap) and it works quite well against the 'trouble' pests. Buy a big bag of the food-grade stuff and generously sprinkle a perimeter around a property, then on ant-hills if you see them and along routes they walk, as well as around the base of plants and the like that ants crawl on. It'll become less effective if you put it in moist areas.

It's like razor wire for insects. Dries them out and kills them. It's not stuff you'd want to inhale (since it more or less works by being microscopic razors) but it's harmless compared to any pesticide and it's effective. I know people who mix the stuff with dried beans and the like to keep them pest-free.

Try centipedes. They eat both spiders and ants and if you dont mind things with 30 legs that are as fast as a rat running around then they do a pretty good job of eating everything.
