For the 6-8 of you here, I created the Kali Compton Clan in Call of Duty Elite. I sent out invites or ask. No idea how any of that works. I might be playing Dec 17-Jan 6. Clan Kali Compton
Got to level 23 I think. I'm using the Scar. Dude the first sniper gun rules. I got 50+ kills. I even got 2 double kills. I also unlocked Marks Pro, Quickdraw Pro, Slight of Hand Pro. I really hate the perk organization this time around. You can't get anything you want on the same guy.
11/8 - 1/2 way through single player already. The elite site sure is hosed.
Level 17 in multi-player. I like how when you die you can keep gaining kill streaks. Lactose thought that was stupid tho haha.
I log on and the game is full of people that got it a LONG time before release. It had level 77s, all kinds of crap all doing massive killstreaks. I wonder if they are devs or just people who broke the release date.
MW3 available now for dload - Amazon's digital download service is serving up fresh copies of Modern Warfare 3 standard edition to all comers today, allowing players to purchase and pre-load for play at launch, with a $10 digital download coupon to sweeten the deal.

Yeah instead of admitting they dropped the ball even more than with MW2 on PC, they went ahead and said that you're a nasty little bugger only out to cheat if you play on PC, and that they aren't able to handle server infrastructure in the year 2011 with one of the best selling game franchises of all time.
Sure.
I don't play crap, but when I do, it starts with the word "Battlefield" :p

If they spent half as much time improving their game and protecting against cheaters as they did trying to whore the franchise by churning out a new clone each year and pushing map packs, then perhaps they can address the insecurity of the PC platform.
The way they handled MW2 was pathetic. Cheaters were rampant after just 6 months and they were too busy working on map packs to address them. This greedy business model of theirs has caused me to lose complete faith in the COD franchise and the integrity of the developers. I'll stick to my boycott.
Also, LOL at them screening comments for the live-action trailer. They must have anticipated all the hate.

Who cares. I went xbox anyway. I like having a game to play on there while someone is on my computer. You already got BF3 for the awesome graphics and vehicle combat too.

The high level people are massively imbalancing the teams vs the level 1s.

I am going to edit this post between games.
Been playing for a couple hours, level 20. I am noob tubing until I unlock better stuff. I wish there was a way to reload tubes other than scavenger, which only works if they also had tubes. With the support strike package, I just run around and tube, shoot my rocket, and then die. Get a lot of kills, a lot of deaths that don't matter, and level up fast. Sometimes I get a 10-15 kill streak and wish I had the other strike package.
A lot of stuff seems useless. The juggernaut armor seems like a joke. You take a lot of hits, but have a riot shield and a pistol.
Picked up a type95 and it was bad ass, like what the M16 should be (M16 sucks bad). The UMP45 seems really good, especially with rapid fire because it still has no recoil. My favorite AR that is unlocked is the Scar-L, but I will use type95 when I get it.

Are the maps bad? I heard they were all cramped and shitty. I like to camp with claymores and snipe dudes with assault rifles. Will I be able to do that or did they make this nothing but run and gun?

I don't know what constitutes a "better" map, but these feel more complex than most of the previous ones. Maybe we just aren't used to them yet. I play the same as you HJ, and I have already found some prime nests on several maps (elevated, good sight lines, only 1 or 2 entrances that you can claymore). I find myself camping less in this game though, due to how the support class works. I think we'll eventually see a lot less camping than previous games due to support, which encourages aggressive play. It's exactly the opposite of what the devs claim, and actually the specialist/assault packages are more for campers in my opinion. Common sense really.
My best gun was the scar until I just unlocked the Type95, which is now my favorite. I also like several of the smgs, namely the pp90whatever (3rd sub in the list, looks like a caulk gun thing).
I still think support is the best strike package, and stealth bomber and escort care package are the two best streaks because they can get you kills (even though you are support, which feels out of place and OP). I take advanced UAV for my 3rd. I want hardline pro, but it's taking forever to unlock. I even switched to assault package so I could get UAVs for 2 kills, and it's still taking forever, but I should get it soon. Getting a kill credit for 2 assists sounds awesome.
After 2 weeks of playing, people are starting to get better and leveled up.
Most good people are either sniping, using assault rifles, or the UMP. The shotguns are gimmicky and suck. The other SMGs are okay, but are clearly inferior to the UMP.
IMO the ACR and the Type 95 are the best guns. If you are good with semi-auto use the Type 95 w/ rapid fire because its basically an insta-kill. If you prefer full auto use the ACR, which has good iron sights and almost no recoil.
The FMG9 (first machine pistol) is ridiculously good Akimbo w/ steady aim. It probably needs to be nerfed.
I am getting used to the maps now, but hated them at first. I like most of them, but really hate Carbon (the oil refinery one) and the snow one. Dome is the new Nuketown (but less fun). I think Resistance is the most fun map. Hardhat is also fun.
My favorite loadout at the moment is:
Primary: Type 95, Attachments, RDS, Rapid Fire
Secondary: FMG9, Akimbo
Scavenger, Hardline (or Assassin), Steady Aim
Basically this takes advantage of the fact that, Akimbo FMG9 is ridiculously good, and is very easily the best R&G weapon. With steady aim, they are deadly at even at medium to long range. They have a large clip size, but chew through ammo fast, so scavenger is basically essential if you want to get any KS going. The T95 is basically your secondary weapon, which you can use to pick people off at a distance on the bigger maps.

I switched to using specialist instead of support. With a run and gun build (I still like the pp90m1). This is the fastest way to level that I have have found, plus a lot of fun and good for your k/d ratio. Do this on kill confirmed to level fast.
Start with Extreme Conditioning, Hardline, Dead Silence. Then set your kills streaks to sleight of hand (reload after first kill), Scavenger (Ammo after a few kills), then Assassin or Steady Aim. At 7 kills you have all the perks, and it's great. This is the fastest way to level up, because you are getting challenges for ALL the perks you have up at the time, and every time you get that streak reward its instant xp. First unlock is at 1 kill with hardline.
