A very disturbing movie about the attrocites Japan committed against China as they captured the CHinese capital city (Nanking). They raped 20,000+ women in the first month alone. They killed over 250,000 civilians who had already lost/given up. What's esp distrubing besides the rape and the killing of prisoners is there's 0 remorse and 0 accountability about it. Watch the Japanese soldiers quoted in the video. Oh we didn't have any plan for prisoners, oh well! The worst part is how they discuss the rapes.
The nazis were the ones that were pointed out when Japan did things just as bad if not worse. For some reason Japan became our best buddies and were instantly forgiven for a base in the region. The whole thing seems like Scientology. Don't talk about it! Do not say negative things about it. It never happened!

from what I have read most of the raping was due to lack of leadership. once they took over the town, the soldiers were left to their own devices. Granted that doesn't make it ok. But its war... its nothing compared to what other civilizations have done. Plus Our country wasnt on and still arnt on the best terms with china. So its easy to just look the other way.

Yeah the Rape of Nanking was f'd up.
Even more f'd up? Look up Unit 731. Not as many people killed, but they were killed in some of the most grotesque ways imaginable.

Man, the shit they did to Koreans is almost unspeakable.
Plus I believe they had a Death Camp Laboratory setup where they (like the Nazis) performed acts of mutilation in the name of science. Terrible shit.
Sometimes people forget to understand that there is some deep resentment between Japan and China/Korea.

this is just a natural thing that happens when corrupt govts take over and give the green light to their men in black uniforms. its what america is presently turning into right now. Pretty soon squads of militarized police will come thru your neighborhood and rape all the women and high five after its all done. The japanese did it, the vietnamese did it, the cambodians did it, the chinese did it, name a country they have done these things. just japan got more hype on it because they took pics + video and bragged more about it. I mean our own military is right now raping 11 year old iraqi kids right now in gitmo and other black sites in front of their parents to keep you safe......

We didn`t support Nanking but we should have. Chaing Kai-Shek was an ally.
June 4th, 2009 @ 8:47AM
The truth is, they were raping and killing chinese instead of jews. Germany`s whole stigma in WWII is based on their jew-torture. If they had just been pillaging poland and france, nobody would`ve cared as it was war, just like japan.
It also doesn`t hurt that we interned japanese in the US and japan became americanized following the war. It`s like, "well don`t tell anybody we put people of your heritage into camps in the US, and we won`t focus on your wartime atrocities in China... Oh, and thanks for fostering our culture so we don`t have to kill anymore of your innocent civilians with our atomic weaponry, that`s swell of ya!"
As for Chaing Kai-Shek, we were trying our whole non-agression theory and isolationism up until pearl harbor in `41. While we weren`t supporting him in 37, he did have 300 divisions by 42 and wasn`t exactly stellar in pushing the japanese off mainland asia, much to Roosevelt`s displeasure.
Basically, in war bad things happen.

i saw this a couple days ago, horrible. My dad, who visited japan, always says he cannot believe that the japanese could do that. They were always polite and very quiet.
Temporary insanity is what it was.
I just cant believe they have a shrine in japan for one of the officers, thats what really scared me.

Japan never went through an equivalent of the de-Nazification program like Germany did. They were never forced to confront what they did.
Also, the attrocities committed by the Japanese and our internment camps are in no way morally equivalent to one another.

RRP I'd headbutt you to the face if I saw you IRL.
Our Soldiers are not raping 11 year olds, I'm sorry. You want to talk shit about our Government and your wackjob conspiracies fine, keep our soldiers out of it.
I can think of few things more insulting than comparing the men and women who give their lives for this country to the Japanese and the Nazis.

When you put people into situations they have no control over bad things happens. Abu Ghraib, Nanking, Nazi Germany, etc.
It has nothing to do with what country it was or nationality was involved. It`s just the way people are.
Look up Milgrim`s obedience experiments and you will learn all you need to know; it`s not that people are inherently bad (some are, but not all) but that the situation leads to people doing really weird things.
The thing is, the governments of the world are AWARE of these studies now, and should be held accountable for what was done. The leaders of the US government should be held accountable for Abu Ghraib but instead plead ignorance and let soldiers become scapegoats.

Yeah dude. No one's perfect, but you trivialize how terrible an act Concentration Camps/Nanking/Other Atrocities are when you generalize and assume that all soldiers do that.
I'm sorry, we got some bad-apples in the Military due to the very low requirements of nowadays, but I feel we still hold our Men and Women in service to a VERY high standard.
War Crimes happen - but we hold people responsible and recognize that the said atrocity did happen. Americans as a whole do not hide from the truth, or from our past.

No when you put random civilians who were forced into the military in a foreign warzone against their enemy they may commit attrocities.
Our soldiers are a volunteer force, not a forced conscript however, and they are better trained and prepared than any other force out there.
Please, Abu-Ghraib is NOTHING. Not even a War-crime, and while it was wrong it doesn't even bear mention compared to the Etermination of the Jews and raping of Nanking.
Your "low requirements" comment is pure ignorance Joe. It reminds me of the same pitch the leftists took speaking of our troops in Vietnam "raping and pillaging etc". Somehow because our soliders are poor they suddenly have this inferior moral integrity.
I'm not so naieve as to say all of our soldiers are good, but most of them are, and they nor I would sit by and watch my fellow soldiers commit acts that were morally reprehensible without interfering I'm sorry.
