IN RESPONSE TO: Ack Dropped my Galaxy S3

are you putting a custom rom on your phone like cyanogenmod or paranoid android?

If not, I would recommend a nexus phone. Touchwiz is a giant POS of an OS. The extra features they include are not worth the bloatware, slowdown, and late updates... that's my 2 cents.

I am, however, running a sgs3 with cyanogenmod on it and am very happy. My next phone will be a nexus though, dealing with experimental roms is a PITA sometimes.

    IN RESPONSE TO: Looper

Nalcolm, that isn't logical though. The only way that would make sense is if SPOILER ALERT-------
old joe killing the mom made him the rainmaker in a different way than how he was turned evil in old joe's timeline. In which case you bring the idea of destiny/fate into the equation which is a really cheap way to explain it. In the diner they mention how the rainmaker had a bionic mouth and saw his mom die, but that makes no sense because old joe didn't do that until the new timeline. It's just a shitty paradox.

    IN RESPONSE TO: Looper

the kid killing was pretty strong,
    SPOILER ALERT-------------
but I think it did a great job illustrating how much old joe really loved his wife and that he would do anything to save her(albeit in a different reality).

The ending was a difficult pill to swallow because the logic of the time travel all holds up until that one paradox

Whenever I talk to anyone about the election, this is the only phrase that lets me know the person isn't insane.

IN RESPONSE TO: Obama does an AMA

they blew a huge opportunity. They had to have known about the AMA days in advance and they didn't take necessary precautions to beef up the servers(or rather let amazon know they will have a giant surge of traffic in that time slot). More interesting questions could have been upvoted to the top.

Overall, I felt the AMA was pretty lackluster in that he didn't answer very interesting questions.

    IN RESPONSE TO: Fuxing Verizon

I would actually hold off for a bit until tmobile puts in their actual unlimited which is coming really soon.

    http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/08/21/t-mobiles-new-unlimited-data-plan-will-actually-be-unlimited/

only another week or so until they roll it out, you get affordable HSPA+ 4g which is unlimited along with an S3.

It's not LTE, but its fast enough for whatever you need over a mobile network. Also tmobile has said they plan to roll out LTE in 2013 so you'll still be in contract and have unlimited when they bring out LTE.

If you go with this route, get the true unlimited, not the hotspot/tethering. If you root your phone and get a tethering app(extremely easy to do), you can tether without paying extra. Most of these tethering apps increase the TTL value in the packet header by one so the provider doesnt even know you're tethering.

Edit: by the way, I just got an S3 3 days ago. Excellent phone and I am extremely happy with it(minus touchwiz which I'm going to replace with cyanogenmod as soon as there is a jellybean RC). Since the screen is so big and guzzles juice you may want to invest in an extendable battery like I did.

    IN RESPONSE TO: infostripe beta

Interesting idea. One suggestion I have for early launch and especially beta.

Don't require users to register to use it(make a stripe).

Registering for sites is always annoying, especially if its a new site you aren't sure you'll be using often and will turn off a lot of users.

I attend UCSB and the fee hike has gotten a bunch of attention here. Personally, my family can afford it but its going to screw over a lot of people.

The poor people are going to get government grants like they always have, the rich will be able to afford it, but the middle class are going to be SOL and not be able to afford it.

I'm afraid the system is going to collapse on itself. There is going to be a huge number of dropouts soon and the system will start haemorrhaging money. 32% are they f'ing insane!

" I have no idea what that means but let's keep adding more and more!"

it means that each cpu actually has 3 processors on it. its because up until a couple years ago, every year the speed of processors were just about doubling but the pace of that progress has slowed down a bit so they just started throwing more processors on each chip in order to speed up the cpu rather than researching ways to make the one processor faster.

quitting wow wasn't too hard for me, nor were the "withdrawal" symptoms. but i do admit that i had been playing way more than i should have been(like 28-30 hours a week), so i consider it an addiction. MMOs are crazy like that.

is EQ more addictive than WOW? from what i understand WOW is a better game, but the horror stories ive heard about EQ seem to be way worse when compared to wow
