IN RESPONSE TO: Fliers try to escape powerful winter storm as snow starts falling in DC

I'm in Baltimore. Everyone is saying we'll get 2 feet. As long as the power doesn't go out with the strong winds it won't be too big of a deal. Glad I'm moving to California this year though - I hate east coast winters.

IN RESPONSE TO: Private Rentals, pretty interesting

Airbnb is great. I traveled a ton in November all over and it was a fraction of the cost of hotels and a great way to see a city. Haven't booked a hotel all year, just use airbnb. I've stayed in some really nice places. I'd never rent out my house to random internet people but I'm happy other people are willing to do it.

    IN RESPONSE TO: The Wire

unfortunately i live in the god forsaken city of baltimore. it's as much of a shithole as the wire makes it out to be. one more year and i can get out of here finally, hopefully won't get shot before then. had a classmate get pistol whipped the other day for no reason other than they wanted to

    IN RESPONSE TO: Baltimore Riots

i fucking hate baltimore. moved here 3 years ago for school. counting down the days until I get to leave. luckily most of the stuff going down is in the already ghetto parts of town but there was some looting of a liquor store just a few blocks from me. the hospital i work at had national guard protecting it all day

IN RESPONSE TO: Blimplike surveillance craft set to deploy over Maryland heighten privacy concerns

I live in baltimore and they were testing these blimps for a week or two during the summer. I have to admit it was kind of creepy to look up and always see a blimp flying around

@BigRed, Na/K ATPase is found in way more cells than just neurons. It's used to set up an ion gradient which can then be used in transport other molecules like glucose for example (usually against their gradient).

Dude you don't know if they're looking for them because you're browsing craigslist which they may not think to use and looking for signs at a park where they may not even live close to. If he got out of the house somehow he could have come from anywhere.

Why wait a week to see if he's chipped? If you're unwilling to call the pound which is where the vast majority of people would call first for a missing dog, then at least take him in right away somewhere that can see if he's chipped.

    Posted: January 2nd, 2014 @ 1:23PM

You really aren't doing what you can to find the owner (it obviously was someone's pet at some point). Browsing craigslist and looking for signs at the park is not being proactive. Call the pound at a minimum. Don't wait a week to have him scanned at petco. Someone is likely very sad right now that their dog is missing. It sounds to me like you're doing the bare minimum so that you can keep the dog

I hope you at least plan to take him to the vet/pound to make sure he isn't microchipped before deciding to keep him. If someone lost their dog those are the places they're going to look. Dogs can get loose for lots of reasons.

Palm of hands is not enough to be in bounds. He would have needed both feet, a hip, or an elbow I think to be considered down in bounds. If you're running with the ball and get tackled but only your hand hits the ground, you're not down and can keep going.
