IN RESPONSE TO: Bin Laden Dead

BlueFalcon, I don't think we exactly removed an active leader here. I think he's been out of communication for about a decade now. Maybe it would have been better to make him disappear...but (even the most cynical among us can) just see what happens over the next few weeks to see why that didn't (and would never) happen.

(To be clear, I think it's best for the country to announce this loudly, and I'm glad that's what's happened.)

I'm shocked the video of the police beating didn't disappear while it was in police custody.

PS-make a new thread! This is too long to be easily navigable.

A lot of you aren't seeing what's happening with this mosque business. The question you need to ask is, why are they building it there? Why, after all this outrage, are they not moving it to show their goodwill? The answer of course is they have no goodwill. This mosque is a victory monument. The imam of this mosque refused to condemn bin Laden when he had the chance on a radio address. The opening date is 10 the year anniversary after 9/11!

This needs to be seen for what it is. It is part of a very serious cultural war, and half the country doesn't even seem to realize it.

I'm addicted to this game on my phone...my fastest is 1:44 :). I've won 495 of 913 played since I got my phone a couple years ago. It's great to play when you have a few minutes to kill.

I'd be surprised if you could see Pluto...it's about one trillion times dimmer than Saturn.

But yes, Google Sky Map rules. I really want to go to somewhere absolutely dark sometime and look at the sky.

Sounds like you're allergic to me. I think that can develop/get worse over time...might want to look into that to see if you should keep an epipen around.

IN RESPONSE TO: House passes historic health bill

We actually have that RyanS. They are called "states". And anywhere a free-health-care-for-all type plan has been passed, it has (predictably) failed miserably. And the typical liberal response to that, of course, is to expand the failed programs to the rest of the nation.

FedEx and UPS will never be able to fulfill the job of postal service because it would be illegal for them to do so! The post office has a government-mandated monopoly on what they do...at least it's a Constitutional power though.

No, other countries cannot pull this off (regarding health care). 1), it's never been done in a way that is both affordable and provides good care (because it is of course impossible in any centrally-run system) and 2) since it's fundmentally wrong (destructive against the individual) it shouldn't be done anyway.

That 'black scholar' is just some worthless remnant from the 60s with a chip on his shoulder. After the cop said he was there to investigate a report of a break in--after this scholar broke in to his own house--he opened the front door and exclaimed, 'Why, because I'm a black man in America?'.
